Strength Coach, Personal Trainer, and Powerlifter
Everyone has a story of why they wanted to start their fitness journey. Mine started in 7th grade when all I wanted was to be smaller. This obsession with body image led to an obsession with food which eventually fell into an eating disorder.
In 2015 I stumbled across powerlifting on social media. I found myself switching perspectives and becoming fascinated with the idea of becoming stronger and growing instead of shrinking. This is when I found my first online powerlifting coach and began competing.
Since then, I have competed in over 10 meets at the local, state, national, and world level. The mentorship and guidance I received through all of my coaches throughout my career thus far had such a big impact on me that I knew that I wanted to have the opportunity to provide that same mentorship to others.
In 2020, I created Fortitudo Fitness. During this time I was juggling alot of other things alongside my new coaching business and found myself locked into a constantly busy schedule. I was a fulltime student at the University of Michigan studying Movement Science and Psychology as well as ACSM-certified personal trainer. I had also started an internship with TheStrengthGuys (who I now coach under). Needless to say I had to learn pretty quickly how important it is to remain flexible in your training to not only continue to get stronger but to enjoy the process along the way.
Over my many years as a powerlifter and a coach I learned a lot about myself and the fitness industry as I fought to find my place in it as both a female strength coach and an athlete. Powerlifting is growing as a sport but it can still be an intimidating world to enter into. It can be hard to put yourself out there, focus on goals when life is speeding by around you, and know what direction to start in.
And this is what Fortitudo is made of: it is a place for you as an athlete to have courage, take up space, and dive into your goals no matter how lofty.
Let’s get started on your journey today.
